Celebrating 75 years Pattersons

Celebrating 75 years in business

There are not too many family businesses that have been successfully trading for 75 years and so we decided to mark the occasion recently.

We felt that it was important to acknowledge and celebrate an event such as this.  Life can get so hum drum that we forget to stop and appreciate our successes. That is why on a Thursday night in November we welcomed family, friends, customers and suppliers into the warmth of our shop on main street, Baltinglass.

Irish Craft Butcher

Celebtating 75 years Patterson's Butchers

Joining us were representatives of the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland.  They made a presentation to the family congratulating them on over 75 years in business.  This was special to us as Patterson’s were the first Craft Butchers in county Wicklow and it’s a badge we wear with pride.

Baltinglass Community

It was great to see so many neighbours and friends on the night and it was an opportunity to thank all of those who support us. Patterson’s are a third generation family business so we have seen generations of local families walk through our door over the years.  It is important to us that we remain at the heart of the community. We are known as proud supporters of the local GAA, both as a lotto vender and a place where the jerseys and orders from GAA shop are left in to be collected.

New Food Range

Patterson’s have always been known for our meat, both the quality and variety and in recent years we have diversified into offering a range of grocery essentials and artisan products.  Our customers are increasingly becoming more knowledgeable about food.  They appreciate good quality and are willing to try new products.   With our new refit and revamp came some new suppliers, some of which featured prominently that night.

We also place great value in offering products that are sourced locally and if they are from county Wicklow all the better.  Supporting small Irish business is a way to not only support the economy but support families and jobs.

Quality Suppliers

Popular on the night was our Benoit’s Hot Chocolate and the winter punch which warmed everybody up.  Local supplier Roundstone Bakery provided the terrines and pates which went down very well.   Our newer artisan suppliers supported us, both Sheridan’s Cheese Mongers and Odaios provided finger food that proved to be an instant hit.   It was a great opportunity to promote our new ranges and get some positive feedback.

Patterson’s Family Heritage

celebrating 75 years in baltinglass

It was fabulous to have whole family present on the night, most importantly Anne and Michael.    When Michael Snr opened his shop in the 1940’s little did he imagine it would still be a thriving business at the same location 75 years later.

When Michael died in 1958, his two sons Michael and Denis took over the shop and continued to run it for many years.  Today the business continues in the family with the third generation of Patterson’s.

The business has seen many changes over the years and while much has changed, our ethos has remained the same.   Patterson’s have always stayed loyal to local farms that have produced top quality beef and lamb for the shop.  Derek and Damian Patterson are the third generation running the business today and remain extremely proud of the generations that went before them

Thank you to our customers

We want to again thank each and every one of you who have supported us over the years.  Thank you for your custom and loyalty which is always appreciated.  If you haven’t been in to the shop for a while, drop in to take a look around at all the new ranges and be inspired to try something new today.   We look forward to the next 75 years serving the community of Baltinglass with quality products and excellent customer service.
