Our Heritage
Established in 1940
Michael Patterson arrived in Baltinglass by train from Naas in the late 1920s. In 1940 Michael took the brave step of opening his own shop which was on the main street Baltinglass where the current shop still stands.
When Michael died in 1958, his two sons Michael and Denis took over the shop and continued to run it for many years. Today the business continues in the family with the third generation of Patterson’s. The business has seen many changes over the years and while much has changed, our ethos has remained the same. Patterson’s have always stayed loyal to local farms that have produced top quality beef and lamb for the shop. Derek and Damian Patterson are the third generation running the business today and remain extremely proud of the generations that went before them.
Craft Butchers
Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland
The Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland (ACBI) represents over 400 owners of local butchers shops, abattoirs, meat manufacturers and processors in the Republic of Ireland.
The certification programme involves strict audits of the Craft Butcher Shops. Patterson's Butchers are independently audited to the demanding standards of the ACBI, thereby guaranteeing customers the highest standards in food, customer service and product knowledge.
The audits involve rigorous testing of suppliers, traceability, storage facilities, personnel, roduction and legal labelling requirements - in fact every aspect of the business.
